Thanksgiving gone wrong

I could not wait till Thanksgiving to hangout with my family and eat a lot of good food, unfortunately there was a speed bump in my plans. I woke up the morning of Thanksgiving and helped my mom cook for our dinner we have with our family. By lunch time I started to feel ill and I figured it was just something I ate the day before. I took a nap till it was dinner time and I got up and went to my Grandma's and I attempted to eat some of the food I prepared and tried very hard to be happy and act like I felt fine in front of my family. But as soon as dinner was over with I knew it had gotten worse, I excused myself and went home and right when I got home I got sick! The mystery is unsolved whether it was something we ate or if I had the flu or something. I felt so bad considering I got both my aunts sick and both brothers following after that night! So unfortunately I did not get to eat very much Thanksgiving food but I guess I should just be thankful I am better now and I wasn't sick but a day! Besides getting sick I did enjoy seeing my family and going around the table and saying what we were thankful for and I was thankful to have such an amazing family!

"Part 2 to my weekend of excitement"

Friday before I left school I decided I wanted to go to the cookout on campus because I cant say no to free food and I don't know anybody who doesn't love a good burger and hot dog. It was a fun event and I also was attending it for my out of class assignment. I enjoyed socializing and just enjoying some good food. One of my friends went with me to it and by the time we left we were so full we couldn't move. I ate a burger ,a hot dog and had a bag of chips which is a lot of food for me! That was the first time since I was at bland I went to the Asian water garden and I truly enjoyed it, its very pretty! The worst part of the day was I got back to my car and realized I locked my keys in my car and it left me stranded at bland when I had work in less than an hour. I called my dad and asked him if he could take a minute to go look at our key rack and see if my extra key was hanging there and it was, I was saved! My Dad drove to Bland with my keys and
I was off and on my way to work, luckily I made it on time. My clients were just arriving home when I got there and man were they excited to go to the pumpkin patch! All in all my day was still good considering there was a small speed bump seeing my clients smile while picking out there pumpkins made my day turn around fast!

My weekend excitement

This past weekend was an eventful weekend for me, I went to the pumpkin patch and Sweeney said that would count as my out of class. I then carved pumpkins with my clients at work at the group home and they seemed to enjoy it considering it was there first time carving a pumpkin! When arriving home from work I was so excited it was all I could think about, I was getting my own puppy for the first time. My family has always had dogs but it was a family pet. Friday I had purchased my own puppy a chocolate lab that was only 8 weeks old and he was the cutest dog I have ever seen. The next morning I woke up and decided I wanted to take him somewhere and I decided that place was going to be Bass Pro because you can have pets in there. I had so many people coming up to me wanting to pet him and hold him and its understandable because hes adorable! Well it dawned on me when I was there I hadn't thought of a name for my cute puppy and I thought about it while walking around and I named him Diesel. Sunday I went to the movies to go see Bad Grandpa and it looked like a funny movie by the commercials but as usual sometimes the commercial for the movie puts all the good parts in the commercial and that had happened for this one. I had a great weekend with my puppy and family and I enjoyed having the weekend off.

This week flew by

This past week went by super fast and its finally Friday which makes me happy. For once I don't work this weekend, I am going to the pumpkin patch today with my little brother! After we get a pumpkin, I am leaving to go to Shenandoah with my boyfriend's family to go hiking. I have never been hiking, this will be very interesting for me. I am very excited because we are going to a apple orchard to pick apples! I think the scenery will be gorgeous and the leaves changing will be a pretty sight to see. On the other hand we are staying in a small cabin and there is no electricity or no showers just an out house. This will be the true meaning of "roughing it", I hope this goes well!

Another weekend at work

Another weekend at work, I love my job and I am so passionate about it! I think about work when I am not even at work about what trip I am going to take my clients on next and I enjoy putting a smile on there faces. Friday we had a Halloween dance and I enjoyed dressing my clients up in there costumes and dancing with them at the dance! Saturday I worked also and I enjoyed taking them to the science museum and to McDonald's to indulge in a big cheeseburger and a soda. After arriving back at there house everyone was tired and just relaxed around the house. For the the rest of my shift at work which I may add is a twelve hour shift, I did my notes that I completed about my clients and cleaned the house. Sunday is always movie day I bring a couple red box movies for my clients. They enjoy just relaxing and we may play some card games and checkers. I absolutely love working with people with disabilities, every single person I work with brightens my day and really makes work fun! I worked thirty three hours over the weekend but it never feels like that many hours because I truly enjoy my job!

loving where you work makes for a great day at work

I'm very excited for this weekend, tonight I work and Friday nights at my job I have movie night for my patients! I pick up the new movies at a red box and pick up a box of popcorn and after dinner we all sit down and watch a new movie and they always look forward to Friday nights for this! I am truly looking forward to Saturday I work a twelve hour shift and a typical Saturday at my work consist of me taking my patients to a local dollar tree for my patients to get anything they desire with their allowance or money since some of them have jobs. But this Saturday I am taking them to Busch Gardens, they all went for their first time over the summer they all said it was the time of their lives! It is hollow scream at Busch Gardens right now and they would be terrified if I took them at night for the scary stuff. Therefore I am taking them during the day for the rides and to enjoy the park and look at all the Halloween decorations! I hope the trip goes well and we have great weather so they enjoy this trip as much as they did over the summer! Sunday I work also, they all have a chore that they must get done for which Sunday will be our day to relax and get things done around the house and that would be my weekend at a glance, work and more work! I love my job and love working with handicap people and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, it is my passion if you cant tell!

Last weekend

This past weekend I started off my weekend by going to the state fair as a field trip with my work, I work at a group home with handicap people. I love taking them on outings so I figured what better than the state fair for them to have a great time.  Some of my patients haven’t ever been to a fair, so the excitement on their face on the way there just brought a smile to my face. We arrive at the fair and the first thing they wanted to do is look at the animals, they enjoyed seeing horses, cows, chickens and pigs. After seeing the animals we made our way toward all the vendors for food, there was so much fried food which they never get to eat so of course I bought them all a corn dog and a sweet tea! Following after eating we watched a circus show at the fair and they were just amazed at the animals doing tricks and the guy juggling things in the air. I absolutely love my job; I truly enjoy bringing joy and excitement to their day! To end the night at the fair we went on the Ferris wheel and when we got to the very top they all screamed on the top of their lungs out of excitement! Saturday I went to Chester fest which is a festival with vendor stands of local businesses and great food! Sunday night I went to Busch Gardens with my friends for the Hollow scream; scary festivities. I wore a bright orange hoodie which was probably a bad idea because I was chased so many times by the people in the scary masks! It was thrilling and very scary but I enjoyed spending a day with my friends since I work a lot!

"Hills like White Elephants"

In class we discussed "Hills like White Elephants", yet another story that was very odd. It began with two characters at a train station drinking beer, this guy in the story is trying to talk the woman into getting an "operation”, which we came to conclude is an abortion in class. The woman throughout the story seems very worried whether to go through with the operation and if the man which I thought was her boyfriend. I also came to the conclusion she seems to be the man’s mistress because of the way the man did not want her to keep the baby. There is also a possibility since they like to travel a lot he didn’t want to bring a baby into the world. There are so many questions that the author did not answer and he left you hanging to decide for yourself. My thoughts on this story were choosing between life and fatality. The "girl” as they referred to her in the story was very squeamish in making a decision because the man in the story is very authoritative and controlling. The white hills are dark and have no life and the white elephants are full of life is what I felt they were trying to describe in the story. I would hope she chose the white elephants and chose life but we will never know due to the author leaving us to make the decision.

In class we talked about the story "A Good Man is Hard To Find", I enjoyed reading it because it had an odd story line. It all started with a family going on a vacation and the main charcter is the grandmother in the story. The grandmother comes off as a self centered lady and very rude. The family has an accident and the decide they need to look for help. It ends up where the three people to stop one of them is the misfit and the grandmother recgonizes him. The misfit kills the grandson and her son and he ends up killing the grandmother also. The story was odd but it kept the readers interested, other than everyone dying in the story it was good. I enjoyed in class how we talked about other ways that the story could have ended if the grandmother wasnt as selfish.

About me

Hello, I am Jessica Fee and am in my sophomore year at Richard Bland. I am going for my nursing degree and stride to work in the pediatrics unit one day. I enjoy volunteering and helping out around my community, my passion is volunteering through 4-h. I did compete in a few pageants and won the title Miss Chesterfield County Fair 2011 and I went on to Miss Virginia Fairs, I placed top 10 in a wheelchair. To back track I was in a bad car accident while I had my title of miss chesterfield county fair, only 3 weeks out until my miss Virginia pageant. My brother and I are "walking blessings" as my mom would say somebody ran us off the road in December of 2011 and fled the scene. That night I broke my femur bone, which I may add is the biggest bone in your body. I broke my ribs, fractured my sternum and punctured a lung all very painful things. My brother on the other hand has a brain injury, he had to learn to walk and talk again. Luckily he recovered now and he is doing very well and became an EMT to help other people. I work at a group home with mentally handicap people and I love every minute of it.
